The Health and Community Development Center AFI: Act for Involvement is the successor of the nonprofit organization Carlux who initiated the first public health interventions in Moldova in 1999.
In 2009, AFI became the proud owner of the 1st prize as the most active NGO in TB control in Moldova granted by the European Office of the World Health Organization, European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, and the European Council.
Currently, AFI administers the Secretariat of the CSO Platform of the organizations that are active in the fight against TB, as well as the Secretariat of the KAP Committee (key-Affected populations), which represents the interests of key populations affected by TB and HIV/AIDS at the national level.
AFI builds bridges to ensure access to healthcare services for vulnerable persons affected by TB or HIV/SIDA and other diseases that have a major social impact. It seeks to do it through innovative services, advocacy and community mobilization.
