TB/HIV Programs in the Penitentiary System (6th stage)
The TB/HIV Program in prisons has several stages. Its purpose is to reduce the burden of TB in Moldova by reducing TB incidence and mortality in prisons.
Completed Activities
- Early detection of tuberculosis among prisoners
- Infection control in the penitentiary system
- Adherence to TB treatment of TB patients
Obtained Results
The medical service was provided with the equipment and supplies necessary to treat tuberculosis. We also managed to achieve a 100% adherence to treatment of prisoners who have been diagnosed with TB. And last but not least, was developed an infection control plan in each prison and was implemented as well.
The donor of this program is the Foundation Caritas Luxemburg.
