AFI with financial and technical support UNAIDS Moldova is implementing the project “Ensuring access for psychological, sexual reproductive health and HIV prevention services for Adolescent Girls and Young Women refugees with a focus on key and vulnerable populations (people living with HIV, children and adolescents, women etc)”.
The Republic of Moldova is facing a large wave of refugees generated by the war in Ukraine. Thus, as of March 11, 2022, more than 270,000 refugees entered the Republic of Moldova, the biggest part in transit to Europe and about 104.000 are still on Moldova territory, 78% of all as per the first estimation are women and kids. The Interagency refugee group on health, led by WHO, UNHCR and MoH informs about the following main health risks: ARI, Covid-19, chronic diseases, as diabetes, oncology, trauma and communicable diseases (TB, HIV).
The project is aimed at providing access to HIV prevention, information and referral, SHRH and GBV, TB and OST services, as well as psychosocial first aid to 2200 women and adolescents and children from key and vulnerable populations, and people living with HIV, especially women and children.
